You can find referral companies of every shape and size as you browse the internet. Some will charge you to have access to their contractor list, while most charge a monthly fee to the contractors they send leads to and they also charge the contractor a fee for the leads they accept. The referral company sends each lead to multiple contractors and the bid war begins. This sounds like it works in favor of the consumer, but this actually opens the door for dishonesty.
The referral company never really knows the remodelers on their list, so the several contractors they send to your home may or may not be the right remodeler for your project. The referral company gets their money whether or not you get a good contractor or whether or not the contractor they send to you gets the job. You can see why remodeling is America's # 1 most inquired about industry from the Better Business Bureau and the # 3 most complained about industry.
DFW Remodelers saw the flaw in the system and approached it in the opposite manner. We asked ourselves, "How can we be the only ones with the liability?"
1) We do not charge the consumer for our service.
2) We hand select just a few home improvement contractors that
meet or exceed our highest standards and form relationships.
3) We do not charge a monthly fee or receive an up front referral fee.
(We only receive our fee when the contractor has completed the
project, collected their money, and the customer is 100% satisfied.)
4) We only select one contractor that best fits the need of the client.
(The contractor will feel confident that the client is expecting an
honest & fair bid based on a completed project and that competition
will only be with contractors outside of DFW Remodelers.)
As you can see, we could easily be left out of the equation. It is of the utmost importance for us to have honest contractors that will take care of our clients. Your safety and satisfaction is the reason we exist.
